Hello! My name is Dr. Christie Porter, but you can call me Christie, and I am a board-certified OBGYN with a passion for empowering women through education and support. I began my career in academic medicine, where I was honored to receive the "Teacher of the Year" award from the residents I trained. Afterward, I moved back home to join a private practice, where I truly cherished the connections I built with my patients and the journeys I was privileged to share with them.
My life took an unexpected turn when I naturally conceived twins. I realized I couldn't continue as a busy private practice OBGYN while also being the mother I wanted to be to my four children. So, I made the difficult decision to transition to an OBGYN hospitalist role, allowing me to be more present for my family.
While I love my current role, I deeply miss the personal connections with my patients and the opportunity to educate, inform, and empower them. That’s how The Informed Woman was born—a platform to continue offering guidance and support to women during their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum journeys.

This module will address many of the uncertainties surrounding labor and delivery. I will provide clear explanations of fetal heart rate tracings that you can understand, discuss common induction methods, and explore effective laboring positions. Coming this July!

Module 3 -Postpartum
The postpartum period is often the most under-researched aspect of the journey. With so many voices offering different advice, it can be overwhelming. In this module, I focus on helping you make decisions that are best for you, your partner (if present), and your child. We will start with the immediate postpartum experience, including the golden hour when your infant is placed on your chest. I will also cover what to realistically expect in the first weeks at home and continue to guide you through the first 12 months postpartum. Additionally, I will address breastfeeding and formula feeding, offering practical tips and discussing what is considered normal during this phase.
